Authentic Happiness: Why It Matters

January 2nd, 2009

When you finally found the happiness that you were looking for, the next question would be on how long you would want it to last.  It may depend on you or the actions or external forces all around that can dramatically affect the present scene.  It is known as temporary happiness when you have gotten a taste of happiness and lost it later. When you know you have happiness and you know it is yours to keep, then that is when you can say that it’s authentic happiness.

Sure, it is okay to lose happiness when you can find it again, but authentic happiness matters a lot more than you think.  Think about all the constant efforts that are done to get it back or the so-called short term fixes for that temporary relief.  If you keep on letting it go and finding it again, you know that there isn’t one period where you are fully contented with what you have.

Having an authentic happiness means no fear of ever losing it because you know you are fully contented with what you have right now.  The reason why it matters so much is because unlike the temporary forms, there is no element of sorrow in the equation.

It can also be a bit difficult to reach for some people because whenever people reach a level of happiness using a too good to be true method, they would start to rest easy until a next downfall occurs. The causes of these possible downfalls are simply the rushes in trying to build a quick and cheap solution.  It’s like building a house for your home too fast – If you rush it, the lesser the lifespan is and more likely to collapse making it a temporary home over time.

Authentic happiness takes a process of building a road towards happiness that is carefully planned out with all the sides being looked through.  It is a matter of knowing where you are and knowing where you want to go and seeing if it is what you truly want without any doubts or consequence.

Listing every possible solution and running through that in your mind is the trick to achieving it.  All it takes is some imagination and evaluation.  Don’t just look a few days ahead, but look far beyond years and secure yourself with your decision so you will never have the need of backtracking and finding another pathway to your desired happiness.  It is a rewarding experience and it even lets you begin even more pursuit of happiness from there.  As you progress, you will discover more ways to create additional happiness and bring enjoyable experiences to your lifestyle.

A Journey Through The Pursuit Of Happiness

December 23rd, 2008

Whether you think happiness is within reach or far on the outer end past your obstacles, happiness is indeed there and is waiting for you to grab the opportunity. All you need to do is to set a course and go on a pursuit of happiness and keep focused on that till you finally reach it. Of course when you finally reach it, you want to hang on to it so nothing external can take you down.Going on a pursuit of happiness is just like going on an adventure to experience new and exciting things. Even if you’ve been happy before, there will always be room for different kinds of happy moments and higher degrees of happiness which should be part of the goal. While there can be a chance that this sort of happiness can come to you, it is still better to pursue it so you can be sure to get it. It’s not good all the time to rely on luck because no luck can result to missed opportunities for happiness. Like any journey, a pursuit of happiness has a beginning and in the beginning of a journey, you need to find out what you want and where your destination will be in order to grasp your targeted happiness. To figure out where you want to go, you need to know first where you are right now. Look at your surroundings and see what your problems are and find out where to go from there and what path can add happiness to your situation.Always remember that happiness isn’t found in one spot so you can have choices on where your destination would be. You can find happiness among people like family and friends. Or maybe you can pursue a career that you have always dreamed about or take the educational path and learn new things. Whatever path that is, you will end up going on a journey and encountering challenges along the way of various forms.

What is most important is that you go somewhere instead of staying in one location which can be marked as a location filled with elements of failure or rejection. Try to go on any pursuit of happiness of your choice and see how it fares for you. If it leads you to a place that isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, never give up and find another path. You will be surprised how many different opportunities there are for you if you have a vision on exactly what you want. Even if you don’t have that vision, you will eventually find it if you keep moving through different opportunities. The more you visit, the more you can cancel out the ones that do not work and zero in on authentic happiness.

Happiness waits at the other end as long as you drive towards it: http://www.HappyEssence.com

A Practical Guide on How to Be Happy

December 12th, 2008

When a person’s days start to grow considerably bad you know that something is wrong. But, it’s not all the time that something may be wrong around you. Try examining yourself because it could be rather something missing within you. That missing thing could most likely be happiness. Knowing how to be happy is quite practical and it’s all a matter of motivation.Figuring out how to be happy is the same thing as figuring out how to get rid of that sadness, so you should first focus on that. Find out what the main problems are that contribute to your sadness and form a solution out of it. The means of doing this depends on the person. Some may find opening it up with someone close a comforting solution, while others may find it easier to think in isolation or spend peace and quiet time. There are just some problems that cannot be solved or are just too high up there to reach. Don’t let it bring you down and get in the way to happiness otherwise you are letting yourself down with no way to climb back up. Acceptance is the way out of situations like this because it tells the mind that this issue or problem can be taken in and accepted. After acceptance, the mind no longer needs to focus on that issue allowing the mind to shift to another path which can open up to be alternate way to happiness.

Sometimes, getting rid of the problems does not cause instant happiness. Or maybe accepting the issue is too difficult if the problem proves to be overwhelming. This is where motivation and action is needed to pave the way to happiness. Try to motivate yourself by setting a new goal that is within reach. Don’t worry too much about the things that turn you down and instead put to action on something that can cheer yourself up so that problems that were previously unaccepted can in turn be accepted.

Close friends and relatives can greatly help in giving you the motivation you need, but bear in mind that only you can make a difference and put your motivations to action. Successfully doing this can bring you up to authentic happiness.

Happiness has no limits so it’s unnecessary to let things just end there. You want to continue to be happy for yourself so that it becomes a shield capable of overriding problems with solutions and reasons to move on. Continue doing the things that make you happy the most and you should be able to have a lot more smooth sailing moments throughout your course of living.

Work towards authentic happiness (Part B)

December 14th, 2006

The best way to achieve authentic happiness is by always being surrounded by the people you love and your favourite people. It helps give you a sense of belonging and lets you engage in mutually enjoyable activities, all of which can buffer you from stress and depression. Research at the University of Illinois, Unites States of America, has found that people who are consistently very happy have stronger romantic and social relationships than unhappy people. This proves how important it is to be around the people you love or the people who are very valuable to you.

This is an ideal route to authentic happiness. Most importantly authentic happiness can be achieved by being an optimistic person. You should always look at life with a sense of hope and sanguine. You should shun away all negative thoughts and expect good and positive things to happen. By expecting to have a great day and by identifying negative thoughts, and countering them with positive ones, you will stop looking at the darker side constantly. This is the most effective approach to authentic happiness.

Work towards authentic happiness (Part A)

December 13th, 2006

A simple facet of happiness

Authentic happiness is an emotion which is influenced by the things we do. According to scientists, authentic happiness comes from work and leisure activities that engage your skills and enable you to get caught up in what you are doing. Thus to be happy and content you should always be engrossed in something, be it painting, reading which helps you lose track of all that was going on around you, including all sense of passing time. Scientists call that “the flow,” that is, a state of mind in which you become absorbed in an activity because it is challenging, enjoyable and rewarding. The more you go with the flow” the more exhilarated and happy you feel. Thus the only way to authentic happiness, is by finding an activity that excites you, like reading a thriller, writing, painting, learning a new language, or creating something new and throwing yourself into doing it.

The easiest technique to work towards authentic happiness is by doing things differently. Doing the same thing the same way, day after day can leave you feeling very agitated. Any little thing that disrupts your pattern provides a wake-up call and helps you be more present in your daily life. Psychiatrists suggest that doing small things like getting a new haircut, hitting the gym at a different hour or moving your bed across the room helps you get a new view every morning, making you feel very happy and rejuvenated. Making daily chores exciting and different help us work towards authentic happiness.

Way to happiness through positive thinking (Part 2)

December 12th, 2006

The effortless ways to happiness include being positive and looking for the good in every aspect of life. According to experts, the secret to true happiness or one of the ways to happiness lies in making a habit of looking for the good and positive in your life. For instance, just by taking a compliment for your outfit in the positive way shows how you conduct the gratitude ritual with an optimistic approach. Some experts recommend that we should write down our ‘five’ happy things before going to bed, so that we drift off to sleep and end our day on a positive note. This positive energy will help us look forward to the next day with complete buoyancy, cheerfulness and optimism. By recollecting our good thoughts or new or good experiences of the day, help us feel good and positive about life instantaneously.

There may be many ways to happiness, but the simplest technique to be happy is by having a positive attitude towards our selves. Being too critical will never take you to Blissville. The things that you tell yourself have an impact on your mood and body. The negative thoughts trigger the release of stress chemicals that make you feel worse. To end the self-sabotage, make a decision to be nicer to yourself. Pay close attention to your thoughts and when you find yourself having negative thoughts replace it with positive ones. For example, if you make a mistake, stop the ‘I am so stupid’ message, and replace it with ‘Everyone makes mistakes and I’ve learnt from this one. Good for me.’ In this way we not only get rid of the negativity within us, but also begin to have a positive approach towards life which the one of the best ways to happiness.

Way to happiness through positive thinking (Part 1)

December 11th, 2006

Apart from finding a solution to all our problems or inventing challenges for ourselves, one of the greatest ways to happiness is having a positive attitude towards life and thinking positively. One should not be an ostrich who hides face in the sand and thinks everything is peachy when it is not. You should always look at life with a sense of hope and optimism.

In one study done at the Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Unities States of America, happy subjects were more hopeful about their wishes than their less sanguine peers. It is not that their wishes came true more often; they just expected them to come true. The secret to turning your outlook around is to start thinking positively right now. It is one of the smartest ways to happiness. By expecting to have a great day, by identifying negative thoughts, and countering them with positive or neutral ones, and by embracing challenges instead of fearing them, you will stop looking at the darker side constantly, and will also grow as a person.

Helping others, and making them happy with your deeds is perhaps the most fulfilling way to master the art of happiness. Even simple everyday things, like greeting people with a smile, helping elders, treating everyone equally creates a positive impact on people. Therefore, always have a positive attitude, do not let greed and selfishness rule your heart, and you will then have perfected this mysterious art of happiness. It is strange but very true. Smile is the Art of Happiness

December 7th, 2006

Mastering the ‘Art of Happiness’ is the key to living a beautiful and successful life. Yes not money, not power, but happiness. This is that elusive object which we are all running after, all yearning for. Happiness is very difficult to define and put into a few words, but it is essentially that state of mind where we are completely satisfied with us, and our lives, and we are at peace with ourselves.

As simple as this may sound, the art of happiness is the most difficult state to achieve. Sages and philosophers have been trying to find the perfect solution to achieve this art of happiness for millions of years. However the only way to master the art of happiness is to be happy with oneself. If I am happy with myself, my work, the people around me, then I am happy, and the simplest way to master this unique art of happiness is to ‘smile’. Yes, smile! If you can smile through all the adversities and problems in your life, then you have perfected the art of happiness. This state can be achieved only when you have a positive attitude.

The art of happiness cannot be achieved if you are pessimistic, and have a negative attitude. It is only when you can smile even in the face of adversity or when the chips are down, even when things are not exactly going our way, that you can be happy. The most important lesson that has to be learnt from this is to have confidence in yourself, and give yourself respect.

Why Pursuit of happiness through developing friendships is a good idea

December 6th, 2006

Pursuit of happiness is not easy. We often find ourselves adrift in misery or tragedy with no one to lean on. Friends bring meaning to life. In times of need friends stand by you, absorb all your sorrow and pain and wrap you in the warm hug of confidence and compassion. Happiness is an elusive phenomenon which has been a human aim for centuries. Many opt for ambition or material joy but without best friends to share our success with the pursuit of happiness is incomplete.  Oriental philosophy also hails friendship as a great component for happiness. Pursuit of happiness through best friends is the highest thought of spirituality, as friendship is boundless, regardless of any kind of social or religious burden. Best friends are unending source of joy and sublimity.  And above all pursuit of happiness through best friends entails constant pleasure and peace of mind.
